Staycation
This passed weekend my boyfriend & I decided we needed some kind of get-away after what seemed like the roughest summer of my life (could've been worse but for the sake of dramatization... ) basically I spent the majority of it studying, & by "majority" I mean a total of one week out of 3 1/2 months without studying... for 1 exam. Needless to say, I needed this, whether it would've been for one day or a weekend I just wanted needed to cool the sizzle I had created on the entirety of my brain, yes, the sizzle.. it was sizzling.
Any-who, we decided to stay at the Croydon on south beach at the very last minute only for the weekend. I had never heard of it before but it was a great price for the cutest boutique hotel & the reviews were awesome.
On sunday we had lunch at Cecconi's in the Soho Beach House & let me just say before I stepped foot in the place I knew I was going to swoon over everything & I did, I definitely did. Martin Brudnizki (interior designer of Soho House Miami & Cecconi's) did what he does with the place, give the man a mule & he will return some kind of unicorn, I'm convinced.
It's refreshing to find places that depart you from the regular chaotic-ness that you find in Miami & even more-so for someone who appreciates decor .. along with food, like myself :) If you like fairy gardens with hints of teal & all-you-can eat brunches you might enjoy this place as well.
After too-short-of a weekend we came back home & I prepared myself for the fall semester of my last year as an undergrad.
Spring Cleaning
Springggg is coming and I don’t know what that means for youbut for me it means it’s almost my birthday. Butaside from turning 22 and all that jazz it is also a month for getting rid ofthings and starting fresh (spring cleaning, I guess). Every year around thistime I clean out my closet and either donate or sell clothes that I no longerwear. After doing this for a while now I’ve realized that it is pointless tofollow crazy trends and have chosen to gravitate toward a more classic/timelesswardrobe. I’ve also realized that quality is important and it is smarter to investin timeless pieces that will last you a long time as opposed to cheaper clothesthat will only sustain a couple of washes. Here is a list of things that Ibelieve any wardrobe should have at all times, “the staples.” (Just the clothesbecause we don’t want to be here all day.)
- Plain white, black & grey t-shirt.
- A pair of dark blue jeans, a pairof light blue jeans, and a pair of black jeans.
- Some kind of leather accent, idcif this is considered a trend or not, leather stays. Be it a jacket, skirt, leggings,a shirt; leather will make any outfit.
- White, black or nude evening blouse.
- Any form fitting dress.
- Jean jacket or jean button-downshirt.
- A pair of Jeans shorts.
- Cashmere sweater.
- Black skirt.
- Black capri pant.
- A wool coat.
15 Random things I love
Saw that AfterDRK posted this onher blog and I thought it was a cute idea so I figured I’d do one as well.
- Watching a marathon of recordedshows with my boyfriend because we don’t have enough time to watch them allwithin a week when they actually air. Aside from that I really don’t watch muchtelevision.
- Dogs, I love dogs and I haveinstant connections with other people who love dogs as well, its weird.
- Cooking breakfast. I don’t reallyknow my way around the kitchen as much as I’d like but I promise you I can makeyou a mean breakfast.
- Stationary. Idk what it is butever since I can remember I’ve been obsessed with stationary. Even as a kid Iwould literally rather buy a bunch of pens and a journal than a Barbie any day.But who likes barbies anyway? Soooo pointless
- Basics. I cannot tell you how manytimes I walk into stores that have millions of nice things and head straight tothe plain t-shirt rack, it’s a problem.
- Me time. If there is anything inthis world that I don’t ever want to lack is time to myself. Humans, ingeneral, are just not my thing… I’m joking. But I really do enjoy spending timeby myself. Sometimes silence is necessary.
- Periods between school exams where my brain rests for several days.
- Lights and shadows. Don’t knowwhat it is about the way light enters a room but I’ve just really learned howto appreciate it.
- All things Nike, sucker for thatdamn swoosh.
- Walls. Nice looking walls.
- Working out & coming up with new trainingroutines.
- White tulips.
- Sitting down and doing my makeup.I don’t usually wear full-blown makeup I just do it for outings but I seriouslythink I look forward to getting ready more than I do the actual outingsometimes. It probably sounds strange (like the rest of this list) but itseriously calms me, its almost therapeutic.
- Adventures, anything spontaneous that involvesnew places.
- High ceilings, architecture & largewindows.
